Formal Shows

A great way to show off your progress in riding and learn what you can improve on. We have 1 to 2 Schooling Dressage Shows a year, here at W.E.S.T. These "Home" shows are open to all.

"Away" shows (at outside facilities) are to be approved by an instructor. Participants must prepare their horse the night before, travel with horse, help load trailer and horse, and help again when we are done. Cost varies from $150 to $500.  Recognized shows can be more.

Clinics

Clinics are a great way to learn in an intense, fun atmosphere with others who have similar interests. Here at W.E.S.T. we have instructor, Connected Ride, hoof trimming, obstacle and vaulting clinics every couple months.  Prices vary by clinic.

Fun Shows

A great way to relax and enjoy your horse and HAVE FUN!! We attend about 3 fun shows a year. Some at the ranch, others away. Must be able to walk, trot  and steer confidently.  Away and at the ranch! Cost varies from $40 to $120.
Breed Shows
We often participate in Gypsy, Drum and Draft shows. These are great for our more advanced riders, but we always need help!   Helping is a great way to get experience and a leg up to the next level!  Cost varies.

Workdays

Volunteers come out for the day and help with projects around the ranch.
We work hard to provide services for low income, high functioning therapeutic, and special cases. The help we receive in return is very appreciated. We have one or two during the year on Saturdays. Anyone with a good work ethic can participate!

Trail Events

Trail rides and competitions are generally held once or twice a year. The rides ar usually 2 to 4 hours in length and consist of extensive trotting and cantering. Not for the feint of heart!
Must have 2 years of riding, be able to walk, trot, and canter, and one rein stop. Can cost $100-$200.

Working Student Program

Working Student is a program where you can exchange work for a lesson. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, some Saturdays and all non-major holidays so your schedule depends on you! Must be 13 years or older.
When can I start showing?
When the coach says you are ready. We encourage all levels, and we will help in any way we can. Remember its supposed to be fun, team building, and encouraging!

What do I have to do to participate?
Participation in shows is a privilege, and we DO want you there.  It is A LOT of work, so if you are 11 and over please come and bathe, groom and prep your horse, clean your tack, and help Friday evening. If you are under 11 (or small) try to do as much as you can and you are still encouraged to come Friday and help!

How much does it cost?
Most shows run $60 to $100 at the ranch. Away (located at other facilities) run $150 and up.
No-shows, or cancellations, after closing date are charged regardless.

When should I get to the show?
Please check your ride time (listed 2 days ahead) AND ensure we have the right test listed.  We get some hard to read entries. Beginner and Intro level West students, please arrive one and a half hours before your ride time to groom and prepare your horse. Intermediate and Training Level and up are encouraged to help out at the show, or arrive at least 2 hours prior.
